ANNOUNCEMENTS

President’s Announcements:

  1. Diamonds & Denim grossed approximately $80,000 with the club netting approximately $20,000. Last year the club received about $11,000

  2. Vocational Service Committee submitted a matching grant request to the district for $2,500/$5,000 for Robotics. We expect to hear whether we received the grant over the next month

  3. International Service part of the club contributed $4,000 for the Haiti Water Project in conjunction with the Elk Rapids Rotary Club

Pedaling for Polio:  John Scholten – Rotarian Scholten recognized he was crushed by almost two hours by smiling, and high-fiving President Cartwright at Ironman Louisville. John talked about the awesome crowd support, and shared a story about a young girl of about 8-9 years old, who was in a wheelchair and high-fiving the athletes during the run. Not everyone in our world is as lucky as we are to be able to participate in athletic events like this, and our campaign to end polio helps keep young kids out of wheelchairs

Calendar Sales:  Melissa Thompson reminded us to get our money in by 1/11/17

Last Thursday:  Steve Cross reminded all of us that First Thursday is “So Yesterday” but everyone wants to know “So what did you do LAST THURSDAY?” Therefore, our more lively members will be meeting on October 27th, 6:30ish at the Pour Public House, 422 E. Mitchell Street
