Four Way Test:  Thank you John Hurd

Invocation:  Thank you Tim Dykstra. Great poem; he must have worked on this for hours:

Rotarians all now be of good cheer.

I’ve news for you.  We have a new year.

Gone at last is that dreadful ‘16,

With political strife Americans between.

Away with those polls and their dire predictions.

We have a brand new chance to make good conditions.

Think now of the options we Rotarians see.

Think of the great New Year that ’17 can be.

We have 52 chances for a great weekly meet

To listen to speakers that Christian will greet.

Some of us will join Etienne’s yearly pool.

Each member a Fellow, wouldn’t that be so cool?

Come the end of January we can all share tales

Of how we sold calendars and got record sales.

And once in a while, be it winter or fall,

At camp Billy Duff there are good times for all.

And every now and then if Wall Street goes high

We’ll share our resources from Park Fund and PRCCI.

And then in the springtime, since Scholten’s kids all got “A’s,”

We’ll think about scholarships that we’ll gladly give away.

The wonderful Strive banquet that Reg helps us hold

Will thrill our Fellows, their parents, and mentors so bold.

This summer on the sidewalk we’ll put up the stand

And sell hot dogs and brats to folks ‘ore the land.

Come fall decked out in denim and diamonds so fair

We’ll raise some great big bucks and then freely share.

We’ll have great board meetings throughout the whole year

Where officers and board folks will lead without fear.

So let’s be now grateful for the chances before us.

To say, “Service above Self” will be our proud chorus.

We can all be uplifted with opportunities seen

To serve as Rotarians in 2017.

Howard led us in “America the Beautiful”
