President Bob Waldvogel called the meeting to order and led us in song to “God Bless America”

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Bob Maldegen Thanks:  Vern Osterlund shared a “Thank You” to the club on behalf of Bob Maldegen for everything that we have done for him. Bob Maldegen sure will be missed!

Art Fair:  John Stover is having an Art Fair at his studio on August 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 10810 Northwood Shores Drive, Pellston

Diamonds & Denim:  Reg Smith shared that we are seeking auction items, sponsorship and ticket sales for Diamonds & Denim which will take place on September 30th. Roadside Cleanup:  Paul Schemanski announced that road side clean-up will take place on September 23nd starting at 8:30 a.m. on our section of highway south of Petoskey on US-131. Paul also announced that Tim Kaufman will be taking over chair of the committee

Program Speakers:  Christian Smith announced that he is working on the line-up of program speakers for the fall. If you have an idea or lead on a program, please contact Christian Smith

Harbor Springs Chamber Car Show:  Georgia Abbott announced that the Harbor Springs Chamber is hosting their Car Show on Thursday night including music from 5:30 p.m. till dusk

President’s Message:  President Bob Waldvogel reminded everyone about the email that was sent out with a copy of the newsletter from Petoskey Bay View Country Club including the historical observation from Jerry Donnelly about the founding members of the club being Rotarians and The Four Way Test

Program:

Christian Smith introduced our guest speaker Jill Ryan, Executive Director of Fresh Water Future. Jill shared with us that the organization was started by Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council 21 years ago. Fresh Water Future spun off on its own ten years ago. The organization serves to protect the Great Lakes waters working with communities all over the region. They focus on specific issues such as the Flint water issue, invasive species and Asian carp.
