Visiting Rotarians:  Bob Swanson from Birmingham, MI; Brian and Lenore Robertson and Kevin Kelly from Mt Clemens, MI and one not really a visitor but great to see him back for the day Bob Maldegen (Go Green)

Visitors:   Ben Slocum, Melissa Thompson, Elizabeth Eddington, Kati Manthei

Howard Richards and Steve Cross led us in Tom Petty’s, Mary Jane’s Last Dance and Smile

Life Events:

Member Health Issues:  Thoughts and prayers are needed for two of our members, John Jeffery and BJ Shawn are both dealing with health issues. Bill Collins gave us an update on BJ. She is doing better but still in the hospital. If all goes well she should be back home on Monday. She is not really up for visitors yet

Diamonds and Denim:  Kent Cartwright presented Reg Smith with the Rotary Distinguished Service Citation for all his work on a very successful Diamonds and Denim

Honorary Member:  Bob Maldegen stopped by to say Thank You to our club (Go Green)

Announcements:

Billy/Duff Cabin Outing:  Jim Beno passed around a sign up sheet for Billy/Duff Cabin Outing. It is scheduled for October 12th. $10.00 per person and a dish to pass. Great way to meet new members and the colors should be at their peak

Annual YMCA Fundraiser:  Christian Smith let us know that the Annual YMCA fundraiser is October 20th at the Lange Center. See him for tickets

Rotary Calendars:  Bill Collins let us know that some of us may have gotten an extra calendar. If you did you may turn it back in or even better is you could sell it

Pedaling for Polio:  John Scholten, now that he is back in form from his foot injury, let us know that we will have a Pedaling for Polio on October 14th. Meet behind D&W at 10:00 am and we will ride to Knot Just a Bar and back. We will also have a Polio walk on October 18th at 4:30 pm. Meet at the clock tower on the water front and we will walk a loop back to the Perry where there will be drink specials afterwards

STRIVE Update:  The STRIVE leadership team gave an update on the program so far. All is going well and we are looking forward to a good year

Rotary Foundation:  Kevin Kelly, the major gifts officer for the Rotary Foundation gave us an update on what the foundation is doing

PROGRAM:

Ashley Whitney introduced our own Christian Smith who gave us a very interesting over view of what the YMCA provides to our area working with in their 3 pillars of Learn, Grow and Thrive. They also spend a great deal of time teaching the participants about Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility through a wide variety of program offerings
