Jane Millar:
The Rotary Club of Charlevoix is having its annual St. Patrick’s Day party on Saturday, March 14th at Castle Farm. We are trying to get a table of 10 together from our club. If anyone is interested, please let me know. We already have six people on the list.
Northern Community Mediation is holding its 11th annual Theatre Party on Monday, March 9th at the Petoskey Cinema. From 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., guests can enjoy appetizers that are sufficient for dinner along with non-alcoholic wine and beer. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. At 7:00 p.m., everyone can go to the movie of his/her choice. All of this for the low price of $25 per person. Bring a spouse, significant other, partner or date, and the cost is $50. Not bad for dinner, a party and a movie. For tickets, contact Jane Millar.

Rotary Foundation:  Chris Etienne
We are still looking for a few more participants in the upcoming Rotary Foundation Pool. If you are not in a pool, we would appreciate some consideration to supporting the Rotary Foundation and all of the good work we do throughout the world.

Diamonds & Denim:  Cindy Bauer
Letters will be going out at the end of this month to approximately 1,400 addresses, 600 across the Petoskey area & the balance will go to the trail members.

We still have openings for various committee chairs. Thank you to those who have already stepped up. Openings that we currently still have are,
  • Program Chair for the evening of the event. This really won’t require much work until the July time frame.
  • Check-in / Check-out
  • Auction
  • Sponsorship
With this being our second year, we are restructuring a few things. This year, 100% of the sponsorships will go directly to The Top of Michigan Trails Council. The proceeds, once Rotary receives $5,000.00 for Rotary efforts, will be split 80/20 with Rotary receiving 20% to put towards our scholarship programs.

Lorraine Manary:
  • A Toast for Literacy – March 14th, Proceeds support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library that many kids in the area use.
Spaghetti Dinner:  Mike Snyder
Thank you to everyone that helped out with this year’s Spaghetti Dinner, it was a lot fun.

The official count was 801 served. Randy Evans had the closest guess and received $43.00.

Would like to recognize the businesses and individuals that helped us out; be sure to thank them if you see them.

Program:  Petoskey Quiz Bowl Team

Members of the Quiz Bowl Team gave us a brief background of their very successful program and than conducted a Quiz Bowl competition between several of our own Rotary members. The competition pitted the Marsupial Family against the Banana Slugs. It was a very tight contest with the Banana Slugs winning the tiebreaker for the championship.
