ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
Fellowship:  First Thursday, May 7th, we will be meeting at the Palette Bistro at 5:30 p.m.
 
Back to Bay View Inn:  June 3, 2015 will find our meetings back at the Bay View Inn
 
Rotary Park Fund:  Bob Waldvogel announced that we are very close to opening up the 2015 Grant Cycle. We’re working through some last minute logistics and anticipate being able to make the official announcement soon. Details to follow.
 
11th Annual Brain Bowl:  The Petoskey High School has asked Rotary to participate.  Each team, commonly representing a local business or club, is required to field a minimum of 4 people. There is no cap on the number of people on each team. The Quiz Bowl will be held on May 21st from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Petoskey High School. Please contact Bob Metzger if you are interested in participating. Note: This is the same day and time as Bill Duff Cabin.
 
Adopt a Highway:   Mark your calendars now for Saturday, September 26th, 2015 for the next highway cleanup. Last week, 27 bags of trash were picked up by 8 Rotarians. Many thanks to Paul and Mickie Schemanski, Tim Kaufman, Tim Dykstra, Bob Metzger, Catherine Sommerfeld, Jeff Peters and John Scholten.  
 
Bay View Summer Program:  Anne McDevitt distributed the Program Guide for the summer. Please know they are now available.
 
MANNA: Volunteers are always needed.  Mark your calendars for the second Thursday of every month from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Manna Warehouse on McBride Park Drive.
 
Billy Duff Cabin:  Save the date; Thursday May 21st, 2015. The cost is $10.00 for great ribs. Everyone is asked to bring a dish to pass. There will also be group biking to the event. Contact Jim Beno if you are interested in joining this group. Please sign-up if you have not already done so.
 
Pedal for Polio:  Save the Date, June 14th
 
Induction of Officers:  Save the date. Thursday, June 25th, 2015.
 
Foundation Raffle Tickets:  In order to have a chance at $5,000 we need to buy/sell 95 tickets.  Tickets are $20.00. If you are interested in buying a ticket, or selling a few, please contact Chris Etienne.
 
Diamonds & Denim:  Please let Ingrid Flemming know which committee you are interested in serving on. This information is needed by the Trails Council so we can partner effectively. Please email her at: imflemming@hotmail.com
 
Table Stewards:  If you would be interested in heading up and forming a table for eight, please contact Dave Thomas or Cindi Bauer.
 
Solicitation for Auction Items:  Please coordinate with Cindi Bauer or Ingrid Flemming regarding the businesses you will be contacting. A Master List has been created which will be used by both our Club and the Trails Council.  We do not want to have more than one person contacting business owners for a donation. Your assistance with this endeavor will be greatly appreciated.

  • Become a chairperson or talk to a chairperson about helping out on a committee
  • Bring a $20 + bottle of wine for the live auction
  • Purchase tickets for the event
  • Help follow-up on letters for potential donors
  • Fill out the questionnaire submitted to you by Ingrid
Program
Our speaker today was Ward Walston, Jr. owner of Walston Marina in Harbor Springs and a member of the Michigan Waterways Commission. The slide presentation instructed us on Lake Level History, Water Balance Components, Water Flow Balance, Hull Designs and Climate Change. This was of great interest for the sailors in our Club.
