PHS Check Presentation:  Steve Brummeler knows how to go big. Not only was the $137,000 amount large but he must have gotten the check out of Paul Bunyan’s check book. Steve recognized the efforts of Jane Millar, Doug Caldwell, and Bob Waldvogel in this highly successful event. John Scholten, Petoskey Public Schools Superintendent and Mary Ling and Kathy Reed from Public Schools of Petoskey, Board of Education were on hand to receive the check and thank the club for its significant contribution to the success of this endeavor. Bulldozers are rolling even as we speak

Paul Harris Presentation:  Jane and Bill Millar were proud to explain where Paul Harris funds go and why it is important that we all learn the importance of helping others at an early age. She then called her two grandsons Cosmo and Ezra forward to be inducted into the Paul Harris Society

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Website Sign-up for Sidewalk Day Sales: Terry Newton went over how to sign up online for the Sidewalk Day Sales Concession. If you need further assistance, please call him and he will walk you through the process. There were also some new time slots added to the event, to spread the load of work.

Diamonds and Denims:  Dave Thomas asked all members to review the sheet on their table. These names are donors from our 2014 campaign that generously gave to help us succeed last year. Unfortunately, no one has signed up to approach them this year. If you know any of the people on the list and would be willing to speak to them about this year’s campaign, please let Roger Winslow or Dave Thomas know

Pedal for Polio:  John Scholten said he was still accepting contributions and donations for the recent pedal for polio event. The minimum target is to raise $2,000 and another ride will be scheduled before the summer is done

Kayak For a Cause:  Mary Ling was back again to discuss Camp Daggett’s Kayak for a Cause fund raiser. She has even recruited John to join her in the event this year. John was looking for a motorized kayak and Bob Maldegen offered to lend him his pedal boat

Diamonds & Denim:  Please continue to bring in your bottles of wine for the basket raffle.  Ingrid Flemming will collect and store them. This item brings in money and we should try for three good sized baskets. Bottles of wine should be $15.00 to $20.00 in value. This is a very easy way to participate in the event

Solicitation for Auction Items:  Please coordinate with Cindi Bauer or Ingrid Flemming regarding the businesses you will be contacting. A master list has been created which will be used by both our Club and the Trails Council. We do not want to have more than one person contacting business owners for a donation. Your assistance with this endeavor will be greatly appreciated

PROGRAM – Bay View Association 2015
Melissa Thompson told us the Top 10 best things about Bay View. In case anyone didn’t know Bay View is open to Everyone. She then introduced Polly Alexander to discuss recreational and family activities that will be offered this year from swimming to sailing and tennis. Everyone is encouraged to join in. Dr. Chris Ludwa updated us about theatrical offerings scheduled for 2015. The Rascals will be here on 7/11; Second City on 7/18; Ragtime on 7/23-25; 70’s Soul on 8/1; and Franc D’Ambrosio on 8/7. Truly this year promises to be a full and entertaining season. We are fortunate to have such a dynamic organization in our midst. You can also check out their website for further information: www.bayviewassociation.org/

Remember: The planning for the 2016 Diamonds and Denim event will be discussed at the July Board meeting and input/thoughts from the membership will be greatly appreciated as the Board decides what we should be doing in the future
