ANNOUNCEMENTS

Diamonds & Denim:  Please bring in your bottles of wine for the Basket Raffle. Ingrid Flemming will collect and store them. This item brings in money and we are attempting to have a live-auction item of a “Wall of Wine”. We need around 80 bottles to accomplish this.  Bottles of wine should be $20.00 to $25.00 in value. This is a very easy way to participate in the event

Diamonds & Denim Auction on line Auction:  This starts on September 1st. There are some great things online to bid on and we will have a silent auction and live auction on the evening of the Diamonds & Denim event. Register here to bid on any online items:

Lorraine Manary:  Lorraine thanked everyone who donated to pack the bus. They had a record number of items donated and they will be distributed to the schools based on the “reduced” and “free lunch” counts

Mike Snyder:  Mike let us know that there are 27 tables already sold for Diamonds & Denim and 25 individual tickets. If you want to go, get your tickets soon or, you may not get in. Last year was a sell-out and we anticipate the same for this year’s event

Steve Cross:  Steve reminded us that September 3rd will be the first Thursday social event and it will be held at the City Park Grill starting at 5:30 p.m. Come and join the fun

PROGRAM

Dave introduced our own Lorraine Manary, who gave us an overview of the Frey Foundation findings of; “Poverty in Paradise” for Charlevoix, Cheboygan and Emmet Counties. The findings show that, as much as our economy is moving forward, there is still a long way to go. We need to become involved in making our area affordable to the people who work in providing the services we all expect in our beautiful area.

To see the entire breakdown go to Bridge magazine on line:
