STRIVE:  The STRIVE Leadership Committee gave a shout out to Moon Seagren for providing an excellent tour of the hospital for mentors and students alike. The education Moon provided was well received by those attending
 
District Governor Announcement:  District Governor Tom Schmidt presented the Club with the Excellent Giving Award for our contributions to the End Polio Now Program. He also thanked Dianne Litzenburger for her service as Assistant Governor and announced that President Dave Thomas would be assuming this role shortly. Congratulations to All!
 
Bell Ringing For Salvation Army:  The date is December 18th. Bob Howse will be circulating the sign-up sheet. Contact him if you miss the sign up and wish to be added to the list
 
Weekly Programs:  There are a number of open slots for next year. Please contact Christian Smith if you have a program or if you have a contact for a potential program
 
Christmas Messiah Plus:  Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra & Chorus will be performing the annual Messiah on Thursday, December 17th and Friday December 18th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Reserved Tickets are $75.00, $50.00 and $35.00. General Admission is $25.00. Amy Joy Cross will be the featured Soprano
 
Spaghetti Dinner:  Save the Date for February 11, 2016
 
Wreaths across America:  Bob Waldvogel announced that Greenwood Cemetery has already collected the funds needed to place 1,400 wreaths on the graves of our local veterans. If you have never attended the ceremony, please try to do so as it is quite moving. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 11:45 a.m. sharp. At noon Eastern Standard Time a moment of silence will be held across the entire nation. At this time the ceremonial wreaths will be placed and shortly after that those present will place the wreaths on the graves of the veterans throughout the Cemetery. It would be nice to have a contingent of Rotarians at this event. Please consider meeting at J.W. Filmore’s for breakfast, 10:00 a.m., before proceeding to the cemetery
 
Toys for Tots:  All toys need to be turned in by next Wednesday, December 15th. If you do not have a toy, cash will be accepted
 
Northern Nights:  Save the date - February 20th, 2016
 
Green Light a Vet:  This movement is meant to start a national conversation regarding the recognition of veterans, and “green light” them as valued members of their community. The color green has a meaning of hope, renewal and well-being. Dave Thomas asks that we consider placing a green bulb in one of our outside sockets in order to show our support to our returning veterans
 
Calendar Sales:  We are challenged to sell 1,500 calendars which will garner a $15,000 profit. This is the Club’s major fundraiser so please get out there and sell. (Try to sell 2 more if you can!). Envelopes for returns are on the dining tables every week. All stubs and monies must be in by January 16, 2016 
 
PROGRAM: 
The astonishing Petoskey Madrigals performed for the Club today. The following songs were performed: “I Saw Three Ships Come Sailing In”, “White Christmas”, “Mary Did You Know”, “Last Christmas”, “O Holy Night”, and “Silent Night”
The 2015 - 2016 Petoskey High School Madrigal Singers are:  SOPRANO: Sidra Brill, Megan Anthony, Megan Wilson, Isa Christensen, Taylor Brown, Natalie Koweller, Samantha Lorusso, Jessica Smith and Taelyn Paulson. TENOR: James McConnell, Jack Hooley, Patrick McGeehan, James Fordyce, Andy Frampus and Collin La Prairie. ALTO: Laura Stoner, Kennedy Mesnard, Samantha Giammalva, Kendra Shaw, Hannah Watton, Emma Montel, Coral Brantly, Nina Chatterson and Rachael Oostmeyer. BASS: Orion Brill, Joey Hickman, Cooper Self, Joel Watton, Tyler Spychalski and Austin Wilson
 
This is the 40th year that the Petoskey Madrigals have entertained for Stafford’s Hospitality Inc. Today again, the madrigals were brought to us by the generosity of Stafford’s and the following members of the Petoskey Rotary Club: Neil Bidwell, Jobst Blachy, Steve Brummeler, John Calabrese, Herb Carlson,, Bill Collins, Steve Cross, Tim Dykstra, Jim Erhart, Chris Etienne, Randy Evans, Ingrid Flemming, Bill Hicklen, Bob Howse, John Hurd, Mike Landi, Diane Litzenburger, Richard McMurray, Bob Metzger, Jane Millar, Vern Osterlund, Robert Rogier, Paul Schemanski, John Scholten, Mike Snyder, Greg Somers, Elizabeth Stacy, Dave Thomas, Melissa Thompson, Bob Waldvogel, Jim Wibby, Bill Winslow and Roger and Kay Winslow. In commemorating this milestone, dollars donated by Rotary will be used to create a new costume. This costume can be seen on the website.
