Petoskey Rotary Noon Club NEWSLETTER –January 20, 2016

4 Way Test:  Thank you Jeff Bodette

Invocation:  Our own poet laureate, Tim Dykstra, penned the following:

It’s winter, that wonderful season of snow, it’s the time when outside, Rotarians go.
They don’t just sit inside and mope around, they go to the outdoors where fun’s to be found.
So let’s take a quick trip up north to Nub’s Nob, to see noon Rotarians do their “playing’ job.
Right there is Terry and a Snyder called Mike, checking out trails on a new fat tire bike.
There’s Scholten and Brummeler and Melissa too, riding the ski lift, for that’s what they do.
Off on a next hill on a trail they all walk, working so hard they can’t hardly talk;
Chris Etienne, McDevitt, and, yes, Jane Millar, are off chasing Litzenburger who’s outpaced them far.
Down the black diamond, the fast folks they come, BJ, Buchanan and Graham, that’s just some.
There’s Christman and always, a Topham named Bill, all swooshing and turning to the base of the hill.
But who’s in the lodge now, a message to send; I see Herb Carlson still, seeking one friend.
And down by the fireplace Howard, Collins and Cross, are singing like warblers; their gain is our loss.
Off in a small corner, that looks very dark; I can’t tell what’s happening with Angie and Mark.
And next to the cash bar Chief John and Lyle Peck, are helping Waldvogel to hand out a check.
At ski patrol station, not one is a waif, all 3 of the Winslows help keep Ingrid safe.
Pete Olson, Doug Caldwell, and Christian Smith too, a new “Funky Snow Dance” out back they all do.
Yes, all these Rotarians and, yes, several more, have well earned their playtime, they all know the score.
They’ve earned recreation, for they still recall, that “Service Above Self’s” the message to all.
So let’s enjoy winter with memories to save, with fond farewell biddings from President Dave

Life Events/Requests:  Bill and Alicia Winslow are the proud parents of twins. According to Grandpa Roger Winslow, all are doing well

Calendar Winners:  Past president Bill Graham read the winners this week. Bill was the president 1989-90. Bill told a few stories about the old “good old boys club’ that had us all chuckling. Bill also gave a shout out to Jim and Linda Beno who, during his term, asked to be in charge of social events. They are still doing it. For a listing of the calendar winners see:  http://petoskeyrotary.org/Page/raffle-calendar-winners

Song of the Week:  Today Rotarians honored the memory of Glenn Frey of the Eagles. Steve Cross led us in “Hotel California”.  Steve is pretty good on that guitar. Following the song, Rotarians danced a “Funky Snow Dance” for a Pure Michigan campaign. See the website, if you dare, for the results of our efforts

Visiting Rotarians:  There were no visiting Rotarians this week
