Did you miss Rotary this week? Missed an announcement? You can find out what you missed in our weekly bulletin.

Today was the first meeting for President Steve Brummeler and we are still not sure if we started late or early!  Barring that, President Steve’s first meeting was very professional.

By West led the group in the Four Way Test and Dave Thomas read an inspiring poem by Edgar A. Guest entitled “Can’t.”   The group sang “America” prior to lunch being served.

Following lunch the calendar winners were announced for this week and last. Total of 14 winners.

Our weekly sing along with Howard Richards and Steve Cross was a tribute to the Fourth of July with a rather nice sounding rendition of the” Star Spangled Banner” followed by the Rotary theme song “Smile”.

Visiting Rotarians this week were:
Jack Edmond, Julian Magnus, Currie Andrews, Steve Hopper, Larry Turnin and David Dow.
One of our guests this week was Representative Frank Foster.

Announcements:
Jane Millar requested that Rotarians look for the e-mail she sent regarding the 450  letters that were mailed requesting donations/support for the upcoming” Diamonds and Denim” event.  Jane is asking each of us to consider making 5 phone calls.  If you are willing to do so, please contact Jane.  Please do not start calling without checking with Jane.  We do not want any perspective donors to receive multiple calls.

Crop Walk Update.  All records were broken with $27,000 being raised.  A big thank you to all that participated with a special thank you going to Steve Brown.

Program:
Roger Winslow put together a most wonderful Fourth of July celebration.  Chris Ludwig, the Bay View Music Director, introduced us to a student brass ensemble, The Bear River Brass Quintet, who performed patriotic music.  Of note was their performance of the Armed Services Medley.  Rotarians were asked to stand and be recognized for service to our country when their anthem was played.  These were very proud moments.
The second part of the program was held by Sergeants Jewell, Presley and Patrick.  Each one of these very fine men spoke of their reasons for joining the U.S. Army.  These gentlemen have accomplished so much both for themselves and our country.

Please let me know of any errors and/or omissions and I will correct them in the next bulletin.
