ROTARY INFORMER for May 7, 2008
Warm and rainy President Diane called on Vern for the 4 Way test, we sang God Bless America and Jock gave the invocation.
There was one visiting Rotarians today (I missed the name). We had 2 seniors from the High school, Stacey Barnett and Jordan Bamburg and Katie Foley who is doing her internship with Diane for the summer. Kendal and Sal led us in Grand Old Flag and Smile.
Club Photo will be May 14 before lunch, Please plan on attending.
We will be meeting in the Rose Room at the Perry on the 21st. We are still looking for a couple more hosts for the Indian GSE Team. You will need to host them from the Afternoon of the 29th the morning of June 1, when they will be transfer to Cheboygan. Contact Steve B if you are interested.
There is a gathering at Billy Duff on the 29th for the GSE team. Bikers are leaving Beno Clinic about 2. Sign up sheets will be going around for the next couple of weeks. Great time for us to meet the team. Herb will be handing over the program Chair position to John Meyer.
Pat announced that we received a simplified grant to go with the money from Don Friend that will be used for washers, dryers and grills for the 2 new habitat houses.
Kristy Beyer introduced Lori Metter the Entrepreneural Coordinator with the Northern Lakes Economic Alliance. The Alliance was established in 1984 to assist and grow business in their 4 county, Emmet, Charlevoix, Antrim and Cheboygan, service area. Lori is working to develop a incubator program to develop new businesses to help diversify our local economy. We have a population of over 112,000 to draw from to develop this new knowledge based economy.
