PROGRAM:  David Miles – Earl Young and his Charlevoix houses

David Miles walked us through how his new book, Boulders: The Life and Creations of Earl A. Young in Charlevoix 1895-1979, came to be written — the first full biography of Earl Young.  Miles offered a look at Earl’s work from the time of his first creation to the completion of his last work in 1973.

Over his career, Earl Young built unique homes that look as if they’ve sprouted from the ground like mushrooms. Set in nature and featuring stone walls, stunning fireplaces, unique floor plans, and wavy roofs, these homes are often called "fairy houses" or "mushroom houses."

David's book is available at the Charlevoix Historical Society gift shop, by calling 231.3547.0373, or by email at info@chxhistory.com
