PROGRAM:  Hands Only CPR

Meghan Powers presented the program today on Hands only CPR which does not include Mouth to mouth breathing otherwise known as rescue breathing. Hands-Only CPR is a simple technique taught by the American Red Cross to empower ordinary individuals to take action in emergency situations. It has the potential to save lives and improve outcomes for those in cardiac distress. By following the easy steps of Hands-Only CPR, anyone can make a significant difference in someone's life during a critical moment.
Hands-Only CPR is a simplified form of CPR that focuses on chest compressions, eliminating the need for mouth-to-mouth breathing. It is designed to be easy to learn and remember, making it accessible for individuals without formal medical training. The American Red Cross promotes this technique as an effective way for bystanders to provide immediate assistance to someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest until professional help arrives.
Remember the 3 C's to Save a Life:

  1.  Check for responsiveness - tap the persons shoulder and shout, “Are you OK?”
  2.  Call - Direct someone to call 9-1-1 or make the call yourself if the person is unresponsive and struggling to breathe
  3.  Care/Compress - Begin forceful chest compressions at a rate of 100 per minute

Next Week’s Program:  Ground Work Center

Two-Week Notification:  Andrea Koch was approved for membership into the Rotary Club of Petoskey at October 10, 2023 Board Meeting. This is the second of her two-week notification to the club where her Fireside Chat will be scheduled prior to her induction.

2024 PAUL HARRIS FELLOW SUSTAINING MEMBER POOL

Giving to The Rotary Foundation supports the many programs and projects around the world, and of course supports the continued effort to eradicate polio completely.

This Paul Harris Fellow Sustaining Member Pool will give you the opportunity to give to The Rotary Foundation on a quarterly basis along with other Rotarians in our club.

Each quarter, starting with the first quarter of 2024, you will make a $50 donation to the Rotary Foundation. Once a total of $1,000 has accumulated in the pool, one name will be drawn and a Paul Harris Fellow will be designated. This will continue until each person in the pool has paid the full $1,000 and all the names in the pool are drawn.

For questions, please contact Dibby Smith at 231-881-3804 (cell), or email dibbys@aol.com

Yes, I, _____________________________________ would like to participate in the Paul Harris Sustaining Member Pool of the Rotary Club of Petoskey beginning with the 1st quarter of 2024. I agree to make a contribution of $50 per quarter to The Rotary Foundation until I have completed the $1,000 donation.
