Hunters Stew to Support the Manna Food Project:  For those that missed the flyer on Wednesday. The Sunrise Rotary is selling Hunters Stew (a blend of venison/buffalo, prepared by the Pet Bay View Country Club Chef). Each meal is $25 and consists of 8 gboz of stew, salad, roll, cookie. Proceeds support the venison for manna project that has collected over 10 tons of venison for area food pantries. To order, simply contact Andy Hayes ahayes@chartermi.net. You can call Andy with questions 231-838-4959. Thank you!

Fall Festival Update:  CANCELLED! Leaves are falling, temps are cooling, and pumpkins are…rotting. We have made the decision to cancel all festivities for the rescheduling of the Fall Fest pumpkin roll this Saturday. We drew for the raffle and winners will be contacted to pick up their prizes.

Calendar News:  Members need to contact Karen Ragland to arrange pick up of calendars.  734-320-0424 or karenmragland@comcast.net.

Also, very IMPORTANT: Calendar Caution:  Members please NO NOT cover up ticket number when applying labels.  It makes it impossible to assign your calendar buyers to a specific number.

Billy-Duff Cabin Outing:  Was exceptional. Kudos to Stafford, Reg, and Drew Smith and Gary Fedus, the outing was absolutely wonderful and nostalgic for the many who attended and remember how great this party always is. Many of us opined about a February event where we x-country ski and snowshoe on the many trails on the 140 acre property that is owned between the Smith/Fedus Families. The ham was melt in your mouth delicious, along with the many side dishes that members brought and a wide assortment of desserts. For those that missed the event you missed a wonderful opportunity to socialize with fellow members and get to know others outside of our regular meetings. We had members come from all three local Rotary groups and a good time was had by all. Stay tuned for more of these events.

NOTE ABOUT ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Going forward, announcements will be limited to Rotary-specific topics. If you have an announcement for personal or work projects, fundraisers, opportunities, or campaigns, you can email Terry Newton or Andrea Coronado to be shared in the newsletter and on social media. This will aid our efforts to keep meetings to one hour.

PROGRAM:  Ground Work Center

Liv Rollinger & Cori Fitzpatrick
Groundwork Center

Since 1995, Groundwork has empowered people who want to be part of creating a better Michigan with innovative, local-based solutions that create a clean environment, strong economy, and healthy community.

Climate and environment:

Groundwork teams assist schools, local governments, utilities, and developers in clearing the way for local renewable energy infrastructure. Through their group-buy program, Access MI Solar, they plan to increase local solar capacity, advance clean energy education, and work with community leaders to make this program a pillar of our region.

Farm to School & Farmer Support:

The Groundwork Food and Farming team creates markets for local farmers, and helps connect locally grown food to school children, food pantry clients, and families across the state through the 10 cents a meal, farm to school, and farmer support programs.

Transportation & Community Design:
Groundwork Center is working to bring a new passenger rail between Ann Arbor and Traverse City. Rail will achieve energy-efficient, safe travel, and economic development in communities along the route.

Next Week’s Program:  Lauren Richards-Third Coast Canine Academy

2024 PAUL HARRIS FELLOW SUSTAINING MEMBER POOL

Giving to The Rotary Foundation supports the many programs and projects around the world, and of course supports the continued effort to eradicate polio completely.

This Paul Harris Fellow Sustaining Member Pool will give you the opportunity to give to The Rotary Foundation on a quarterly basis along with other Rotarians in our club.

Each quarter, starting with the first quarter of 2024, you will make a $50 donation to the Rotary Foundation. Once a total of $1,000 has accumulated in the pool, one name will be drawn and a Paul Harris Fellow will be designated. This will continue until each person in the pool has paid the full $1,000 and all the names in the pool are drawn.

For questions, please contact Dibby Smith at 231-881-3804 (cell), or email dibbys@aol.com

Yes, I, _____________________________________ would like to participate in the Paul Harris Sustaining Member Pool of the Rotary Club of Petoskey beginning with the 1st quarter of 2024. I agree to make a contribution of $50 per quarter to The Rotary Foundation until I have completed the $1,000 donation.
