Rotary Care List:  Member Teri Donaldson’s husband Mike completed his radiation and chemotherapy therapy this week. It will take some time for him to heal and recover. A PET scan is scheduled for late December. We hope to celebrate the New Year cancer free. Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers, and hugs. Teri

Sharon Schappacher's partner Dan Anderson was diagnosed with lung cancer that had metastasized to the bone and liver on June 1. On Thursday this past week, they decided that the cancer is too far along and have stopped treatment and entered him into hospice at home. I have family staying with me during this time to help. Please don't hesitate to call or email me if you need something, I just may not be as quick to respond as usual.

Singing/Song:  Howard Richards sang Smile and then Steve Cross helped us to sing Stodola Pumpa which is one of his favorite songs to sing.

The Athena Award Committee is looking for additional participants and would like one representative from each service club. If you would be interested in representing our club, please contact Nikki Devitt. The time commitment is three short meetings to vet candidates and select the award recipient.

Assist Sophie Cranney:  Rotarian Angie Cranney's daughter, Sophie Cranney, continues to experience health issues following a car accident last year. Sophie has several medical appointments lined up this summer and needs help getting to/from her appointments.

Good news, Sophie has graduated from her eye therapy and no longer needs to travel to Traverse City. I have deleted those appointments but added a few more local appointments. Please consider helping, view the sign up. and offer to pick up a shift or two.

Cookout at Camp Daggett on Oct. 21:  Camp Daggett's executive director, Andy Hayes, would like to organize a cookout at the camp for service club members. This is to honor the many meaningful ways that service clubs like ours have contributed to Camp Daggett over the years. Please contact Christian Smith if interested in attending.

Past President Centennial Updates:  Starting now, over the next 4 months, 19 past Presidents of our club will take turns giving a historical overview of club happenings in 5-year periods (until we reach 100 years). They will make remarks on what was happening in the world, in Petoskey, and in our club. Steve Cross was the 97th President from 2018-2019 and spoke about the years 2000-2005.....and of course, he managed to squeeze a joke in too!!

PROGRAM  Joe Blachy – Gentle exercise to stay healthy

Today we were treated to a delightful program by our very own Rotarian, Joe Blachy. Joe talked with members about brief, gentle exercises they can do to support physical and mental well-being. He even demonstrated the exercises firsthand and shared a booklet with detailed instructions for members to take home with them.

Joe is a wonderful example of aging gracefully and healthfully. His mind and body are sharp as ever!! Thank you, Joe, for sharing your exercise routine with us, and for being such a passionate advocate for healthy lifestyles. Your enthusiasm is contagious!

Years ago we had a program that is still talked about to this day; Steve Shuman did a video presentation about gutting a deer.

Sometime later we were treated to Jack Waldvogel doing a home exercise program video in which we were shown home exercises of Jack in his Barcalounger and opening a refrigerator door.

We will now be discussing seeing Joe Blachy in his pajamas for many years to come.

Next Week’s Program:  History Committee Jean Frentz – Past International Rotary Experiences
