Life Events:

BJ Shawn & John Jeffrey:  Thoughts and prayers are needed for two of our members, John Jeffery and BJ Shawn are both dealing with health issues

Doug Caldwell:  Doug Caldwell’s Mother, Verna D. “Millie” Caldwell passed away on Thursday October 5, 2017 and her services will be held in her home community of Christopher, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Caldwell Family Scholarship that provides financial assistance to students in need. Rend Lake College Foundation, 468 N. Ken Gray Parkway, Ina, Illinois

Announcements:

Billy/Duff Cabin Outing:  Jim Beno passed around a sign up sheet for Billy/Duff. It is scheduled for October 12th, $10.00 per person and a dish to pass. Great way to meet new members and the colors should be at their peak

Friends of the Library Dinner:  Gary Baxter let us know about the Friends of the Library Dinner on Oct. 9th. There is still time to get your reservations in

Rotary Foundation Pool:  Liz Ahrens let us know the foundation pool invoices will be out soon, she is running a little behind. She also thanked Vern for directing guests from his motel to the Ansel Adams exhibit. They had over 22,000 visitors for this exhibit. One more thing is that there will be a Classical Piano concert on the 8th

Marine Corps Birthday Party:  Dave let us know that the Marine Corps birthday party will be on November 10th. Come see the new Commandant, we may know him, installed. See Dave if you are interested in attending

Annual YMCA fundraiser:  Christian Smith let us know that the Annual YMCA fundraiser is November 20th at the Lange Center. See him for tickets

Calendar Sales:  Jeff Bodette let us know that we can turn in calendar cards and money any time

Pedaling for Polio:  John Scholten, now that he is back in form from his foot injury, let us know that we will have a Pedaling for Polio on November 14th. Meet behind D&W at 1:00 p.m. and we will ride to Knot Just a Bar and back. We will also have a Polio walk on November 18th at 5:00 p.m. Meeting location to be announced

Diamonds & Denim 2017:  Bob Waldvogel gave a big thank you to Reg for all his work on another successful Diamond and Denim event

PROGRAM:

Ben Slocum gave us a great program today on Beards Brewery. It is great to see a successful business developed by local young men. The craft brew industry is thriving in Michigan and it is nice to have one of the great success stories right here in Petoskey
