Calendar Winners:  President Steve called on Angie Cranney to read the calendars winners, for all you who think reading names cold is an easy step up think again. Link

Announcements:

Billy/Duff Outing:  Jim Beno let us know that there will be a fall Billy/Duff gathering on October 4th. Bring a dish to pass; beverages and ham provided. $10 for members, $8 for spouses and $5 for kids

Governor Elect Announcements:  Governor Elect Dave Thomas let us know that the Marine Corps Ball is on November 9th with our own Melissa Colby as the keynote speaker. See Dave Thomas for more info or tickets

Rotary International Convention:  Joe Blachy let us know that the 2019 Rotary International convention is in Germany.  He would be interested in getting a group together to attend. Talk to Joe if you are interested

Born to Read:  Nikki LaDeur let us know about a new program our club is starting/supporting Born to Read. Getting a book into the hand of new parents at McLaren. If you want more information about this see Nikki

Sue Metzger let us know about a couple of events:

September 15th, 2:00 pm at Shangri-La House in Horton Bay there is an open house. This is where Ernest Hemingway was married

Also, at 7:00 pm at the Boyne City Performing Arts Center (High School) they will be showing George Plimpton, the movie

Pedal for Polio:  John Scholten, with his hand out again, Pedal for Polio is scheduled for October 6th. There will be many of us riding and looking for sponsorships. See if John can still ride after completing his second Iron Man

Calendar Sales:  Jim Beno reminded us that calendar sales start on September 26th

2019 D&D Partner:  President Steve Cross let us know that at the board meeting the partner for 2019 Diamonds and Denim was approved. Our 2019 partner is the YMCA

Also, he encouraged all of us to get our tickets to this year’s event supporting the expansion at the Hospital

2018 Diamonds & Denim:  Pat Schulte the Hospital Foundation Executive Director thanked us and encouraged us to support this year’s event. BJ Shawn, who is having new address labels made up that we all hope she never uses again, praised her treatment and the staff at the hospital for their great care

PROGRAM:

Ben Slocum introduced Ben Walker, who is standing up in Ben’s wedding next month, and is the GM at Roast and Toast. Ben gave us an interesting program on the Petoskey Curling Club. It is an exciting new activity offered right here in Petoskey

Next Week’s Program:  Amy Gillard: Harbor Springs ‘Festival of the Book’ (Sept. 28th - 30th)

New Member:  Lisa Hammond was approved for admission to the Rotary Club of Petoskey at the September 11th Rotary Board meeting. This is the first of a two-week member notification
