Petoskey Rotary Noon Club NEWSLETTER

September 26, 2018

AS A REMINDER PLEASE TURN YOUR PHONES OFF OR TO SILENT WHEN YOU COME INTO THE MEETING.  IT IS VERY RUDE AND INCONSIDERATE TO MEMBERS OR PRESENTERS UP FRONT WHEN THEY RING WHILE THEY ARE SPEAKING! (This is something that should not have to be brought up in a professional organization)

Howard Richards led us in "America the Beautiful"

Four Way Test:  John Calabrese. Maybe by the end of his term President Steve will get his last name correct. He made it sound very Italian

Invocation:  Stuart Fenton

Singing/Songs:  Howard Richards and Melissa Thompson (accompanied by a group of calendar girls) led us in "Calendar Girl" and Smile

Calendar Winners:  President Steve called on Walt Byers to read the calendar winners for the week: Link

Visiting Rotarians:  Getting cooler out so our Visiting Rotarian numbers are down. None today

Visitors:  Shawn Stressman and Lisa Hammond

Life Events:

Birthdays:

Kent Cartwright and Georgia Abbott had birthdays this week

Jim Beno let us know that Bill Graham is doing very well

Announcements:

Billy/Duff Outing:  Jim Beno let us know that there will be a fall Billy/Duff gathering on October 4th. Bring a dish to pass, beverages and ham provided. $10 for members, $8 for spouses and $5 for kids

Pedal for Polio:  John Scholten, with his hand out again, Pedal for Polio is scheduled for October 6th. There will be many of us riding and looking for sponsorships. See if John can still ride after completing his 2nd and last, according to Barb, Iron Man in Chattanooga, TN

Calendar Sales:  Calendars were handed out today. Jim Beno gave us some tips and encouragement for selling. This is our largest fund raiser so let’s get out and increase our sales this year

Pet Waste Stations:  Jeff Wynder needs some help installing 4 pet waste stations. See him to find out where and when

Diamonds & Denim 2018 Update:  Reg Smith gave us a quick update on another successful Diamonds and Denim event. We raised $20,000 from the paddle raise, thanks to Liz for throwing in $50 to make it an even 20. It looks like overall there is $75,000 with expenses still to be figured out. Final numbers will still be a couple weeks out, but the event was a success

Roadside Cleanup:  Neil Bidwell let us know that Roadside Cleanup is this Saturday. Meet at the Walloon Lake Marina service center at 9:00 am

Chamber of Commerce Event:  Kassia Perpich let us know about a great Chamber event coming up on Four Drivers of Workplace Culture. It is scheduled on October 15th from 2:00 - 4:30 at the college

President Comments:  President Steve Cross thanked Reg for all his work on Diamonds and Denim. He did a great Job

PROGRAM:

Dianne Litzenburger introduced Carolyn Tabone from the hospital who gave us a great over view of a program we supported through a grant from PRCCI “Stop the Bleed.”  This is a program designed to educate the public on the importance of stopping major bleeding due to an accident. This is much like CPR in saving a life

Next Week’s Program:  Tonya Fegan; The Residences at Harbor Watch & Pathway to Wellness Center
