Calendar Winners:  President Steve Cross, who thought about canceling again this week because it is winter in Northern Michigan but thought he shouldn’t, since last week he was out playing in Vail, called on Reg Smith to read the Calendar winners: Link

Visiting Rotarians: Frank Foos and his wife Robbi Karas from Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Our weather is really showing off for our guests from Florida

Visitors: Elizabeth Newton who was approved as an honorary member so this will be the last time she will be listed as a visitor. Mike Reaves, who gets another free lunch by not being inducted again, Chuck Hayes, Ingred Olsen, Lori and Jess Smith and Lexie Brummeler

Life Events:

John Scholten let us know that Moose Dunne passed recently. Moose was a long time Summer Rotarian and a great supporter of Petoskey School Athletics. He will be sorely missed. Look here for his obituary: Link

Announcements:

Spaghetti Dinner:  Reg Smith reminded us that sauce night is next Wednesday Feb. 20 with first shift at 2:00 pm and the 2nd. shift at 5:00 pm at the Bay View Inn. Lots of fun so stop by and help make sauce. Then Thursday the 21 is the dinner. Assignments have been put out. If you have questions, see Mike Snyder

Northmen Night Raffle:  John Scholten, looking for money again, has tickets for the Northmen night raffle. They are $20 and he will have them for the next couple of weeks

District Foundation Raffle:  Liz Ahrens also has raffle tickets for $20. Hers are for the District Foundation raffle. We had a big winner recently. See her with your $20

Toys for Tots Award Presentation:  Dave Thomas presented Reg Smith and President Steve Cross with Commanders Citations for the Marine Corp League for their support of the Toys for Tots Program

PROGRAM:

President Steve introduced Drew Smith and Brian Bates from Leadership Little Traverse who gave us a look into their class project for this year; Solarize Petoskey. Installing a solar array at NCMC that will give everyone who is interested and the college practical look at the how and what of solar energy. To help fund this project you can go to Link

Two-Week Notification:  Leah Callan & Chuck Hayes were voted in to the Rotary Club of Petoskey on February 12 at our board meeting and this is the first of a two-week notification. Betsy Newton was also voted in to become an Honorary Rotarian. She definitely deserves it for putting up with “He who must not be named.” She is probably more suited for sainthood as well though, this is not something that our board has the power to grant
