Pledge/Anthem:  Howard Richards led us in My Country tis of Thee

4-Way Test:  Dave Thomas

Invocation:   Jean Frentz

Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

International Insight:  The percentage of the globe covered by tropical forests has plummeted from 12% to 5%.  The loss accounts for up to 19% of greenhouse gas emissions (Drawdown Report).  The Rotary clubs of Antananarivo-Tsimbaroa, Madagascar; Tonio Mole Antonelliana, Italy; and Annecy Tournette, France have partnered with a local nonprofit in Madagascar to reforest about 125 acres with native species grown from wild seed, creating jobs for area families and a tourism infrastructure.

Sally Crowley Poem from Today:  Hardly a dry eye from the many who have been affected by this horrible disease.

I had several people ask me to share the poem I read today and I’m happy to do so.

An Alzheimer’s Poem

Do not ask me to remember,

Don’t try to make me understand.

Let me rest and know you’re with me,

Kiss my cheek and hold my hand.

I’m confused beyond your concept,

I’m sad and sick and lost.

All I know is that I need you,

To be with me at all cost.

Do not lose your patience with me,

Do not scold or curse or cry.

I can’t help the way I’m acting,

Can’t be different, though I try.

Just remember that I need you,

That the best of me is gone.

Please don’t fail to stand beside me!

Love me till my life is done.

-Owen Darnell
