Be Thankful

Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don’t know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge,
because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes.
They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you’re tired and weary,
because it means you’ve made a difference.

It’s easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who
are also thankful for the setbacks.

Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
and they can become your blessings.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Help spread positivity this Friday, Nov. 20:  Our board of directors recently came across this news article about a Petoskey man who has been standing in the new 'People's Park' holding a sign that simply says "Smile" for folks driving by. Nothing political, nothing controversial, nothing negative....just good vibes! Inspired by his actions, we're trying it for ourselves! Join fellow Rotarians in People's Park (across from Family Video) this Friday, November 20, anytime between 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM. You may bring a handmade sign with a positive message or hold up some Rotary-themed signs we had designed for this event.

Club elections on Dec. 9:  The club's election will be on December 9th. The slate of candidates is listed below. When you vote, you will vote either 'yes' or 'no' to this entire slate.

President Nominee:  Reg Smith

Board of Directors:  Christian Smith; Lisa Hammond; Karen Ragland

PRCCI Board of Directors:  Jean Frentz and Bob Waldvogel

Salvation Army bell ringing  on Dec. 18:  Save the date! We will ring the bell for Salvation Army. This year we will ring outside the Petoskey Chamber building at the corner of Mitchell & Howard (across from our old JC Penney location). We will also have one location at the north end of Walmart. Sign up sheet is circulating in ClubRunner. Please sign up for your preferred time slot(s). There are 11 spots left to be filled.

Wreaths Across America on Dec. 19:  Save the date! We will gather at Greenwood Cemetery to conduct wreath-laying ceremonies on veterans' graves.

Rotary Secret Santa gift exchange: Let's add some extra holiday cheer to our club this year! Ashley Whitney is organizing a "Secret Santa" gift exchange. Details are still being worked out, but if you sign up you will receive the name of another Rotarian to buy a holiday gift for -- keep it under $25.00 please. At a later date, we will gather virtually to open our gifts and guess who our Secret Santa’s are. We have at least 22 Rotarians signed up so far!! Contact Ashley Whitney if interested.

Calendar update:  We're in the home stretch! Please turn in your calendar money sooner than later if possible. It makes it easier for the calendar committee to do year-end reconciliation.

Toys for Tots:  This annual toy drive is still happening! If you'd like to donate a toy for a child in need, please drop it off at the Perry Hotel. Or you can make a cash donation if you prefer -- simply write a check out to Toys for Tots and mail it to Dave Thomas's home address. Please contact Dave Thomas with any questions.
